PULTRUSION PROCESS

DESCRIPTION

Concept

Pultrusion
is a process for the continuous production of profiles with constant cross-sections in composite glass-fibre, basalt, carbon and natural fibre materials

Procedure

During the production process, the reinforcement fibres are impregnated and taken to the heating line. The impregnation of all the glass fibres takes place while going through the bath that contains the polymeric matrix (resin). The resin-impregnated glass-fibres enter the heating line and are stretched. The heat permits an exothermal reaction that initiates the polymerisation process (hardening) of the resin. After the profile leaves the pultrusion line, the pulling mechanism is two alternative carriages to guarantee a continuous movement. The cut is made by using an automatic cutting system.
